Statement

My paintings reflect on those ordinary moments in the life of a city with an invitation to walk on a familiar street with recognized landmarks of vibrant shapes and mysterious shadows. They are an opportunity to explore the cultural context, iconic signs, ambiguous symbols and social elements of our urban landscape. In documenting these day-to-day experiences, I try to create a chronicle of our neighborhoods negotiating (the tension of) change with a sense of drama, humor and serenity.

 I grew up in New York City and to this day I continue to be amazed by its simple and accidental abstract beauty.
